Vicki Lynn Richar, a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 20, 2026.
Vicki was born on October 26, 1951, to Robert and Florence Hoppes. She lived her life with warmth, humor, and a deep love for the simple joys that bring people together. She treasured time spent with family and friends and was happiest when surrounded by those she loved most. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Terre Coffman; her parents, Robert and Florence Hoppes; her brother, Robert Hoppes Jr.; her sister, Julie; and her sister-in-law Dori Niemann.
She was united in marriage to her beloved husband, Allan Richar, and together they shared 28 wonderful years of marriage, building a life centered on laughter, love, and togetherness.
Vicki had a special spark when it came to fun. She loved bingo, playing cards, and trying her luck at the casino. She also loved a good game of Scrabble, Canasta, and Euchre, word search puzzles, painting ceramics, and relaxing with a good John Wayne western or Hallmark movie. Whether at the bingo hall, gathered around a card table, or enjoying a quiet evening at home, she cherished the moments and the company that came with them.
She is survived by her loving husband, Allan Richar; her daughters, Alicia (Robert) Smith and Kandy Richar; two grandsons and a granddaughter; one great-grandson and one great-granddaughter; her mother-in-law, Arletta Richar: her sisters, Kathlene Harris, Mary (Dan) Ferguson, Joyce Hoppes, Jeanne (Thomas) Grawburg, Judy (Rob) Barr, and Marsha (Daniel) Gambill; her brother, John Hoppes; and her Aunt Lucille Hoppes. She will also be lovingly remembered by nieces and nephews, and many dear friends.
Vicki will be remembered for her strength, her humor, and the love she shared so freely. Her memory will live on in the stories told and the games played in her honor. She will be greatly missed by all of her family and friends.
A memorial service celebrating Vicki’s life will be held at the VFW in Portland, Michigan, on Saturday, March 7, 2026. Visiting hours will begin at 10:00 a.m., with the memorial service at 11:00 a.m. and a luncheon to follow at 12:00 noon.
