Vincent L. Beck, a dedicated and accomplished individual, passed away peacefully at his home on November 15, 2023. Born on March 16, 1931, in Lehighton Pennsylvania, Vincent lived a remarkable life filled with remarkable achievements.

 

Vincent began his career as a lab engineering supervisor for Eaton Corporation and devoted 29 years of his life to the company. He also had the privilege of working with NASA, where he contributed to the success of the Mercury MR-3 and MR-4 missions in 1961. During these missions, he played a crucial role in assisting the launch crew with communications and had the honor of supporting great astronauts like Alan Shepard and Virgil "Gus" Grissom.

 

Prior to his illustrious career, Vincent pursued higher education and earned a bachelor's degree. He was not only intellectually talented but also exceptionally brave. Vincent served in the United States Army in the ASA (Army Security Agency) division during the Korean War and earned the title of Sergeant. His commitment and sacrifice exemplified the best qualities of a patriot.

 

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Vincent had an immense passion for music. Since he was just nine years old, he held a HAM radio operating license and possessed impressive musical talents. Playing instruments such as the accordion, saxophone, harmonicas, and keyboard brought him immense joy. Vincent even composed his own music, showcasing his creativity and skill.

 

Additionally, he had an avid interest in gardening and was admired for his green thumb. Vincent's innate curiosity led him to explore various gadgets throughout his life, earning him the endearing nickname of "gadget guy" among friends and family.

 

Vincent will be dearly missed by his surviving family members including Cecelia Moser (Sister). He is preceded in death by Veronica Swartz (Sister), Joseph Beck (Brother), and Henry Beck (Brother).

 

Vincent L. Beck leaves behind a legacy of professionalism, dedication, and a zest for life. His contributions to the fields of engineering and aerospace will forever be cherished. His love for music and his green thumb will continue to inspire those who knew him. Vincent's memory will be eternally celebrated by all those whose lives he touched.
