Virginia Arlene Hausman

Virginia A. Hausman, age 95, of Battle Creek,  passed away Friday, September 8, 2023, at Heritage Assisted Living. She was born January 20, 1928, in Battle Creek, Michigan, the daughter of Vivien “Buster” and Elizabeth (Joy) Rouse. Virginia was a 1946 graduate of Lakeview High School, a lifelong resident of Battle Creek and a longstanding member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.  Prior to her retirement in 2010 she worked at Bill Knapps Food Shop for many years and then Schlotzsky’s for over 10 years. She enjoyed reading, knitting, bingo, playing cards and other games, as well as baking for her friends and family. On September 20, 1947, she was married to Arthur “Art” Hausman who preceded her in death on March 31, 2011. She was also preceded by her parents, son David Hausman and sister Jackie Roberts. Virginia is survived by four children: Larry (Kathy) Hausman of Battle Creek, Karla Rice of Battle Creek, Karen (Scott) Stanton of East Leroy and Mike (Liz) Hausman of Novi; seven grandchildren: John Hausman, Lori (Steve) Schanzenbaker, David (Carly) Stanton, Zachary Stanton (Abbey), Lexi (Greg) Andrews, Tyler Rice and Ryan Hausman; ten great-grandchildren plus one on the way; many nieces, nephews and special friends. Funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, September 12, 2023, at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home with The Rev. Christopher Ankley of St. Joseph Catholic Church officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service time and interment will follow the service at Memorial Park Cemetery.
