William "Bill" M. Bornor

William “Bill” Mark Bornor, 95, of Athens passed away peacefully on February 24, surrounded by family.

Bill was born in 1930 in Albion to N. Fay and Eleanor Bornor. He graduated from Athens High School. After graduation, he proudly served in the United States Navy. Upon his return home, he joined the Kellogg Company in Battle Creek as a millwright, and retired in 1986 as a millwright foreman.

Throughout his life, Bill remained active in the Athens community. He served on the Athens School Board and was involved with the Youth Council Maple Syrup Project. A lifelong supporter of local athletics, he participated in a variety of high school sports and helped lead his team to the 1948 Little C League Football Championship. Bill continued to champion youth sports throughout his life.

Bill enjoyed spending winters in Florida for many years, as well as traveling, golfing, fishing, and bowling. He also played local baseball for many years and was inducted into the Battle Creek Baseball Hall of Fame.

He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Annette Bornor; his children, W. Mark Bornor (Kathy Ambler), Sandy Bornor (Dan Browning), and Sally Johnson (Jerry); his stepdaughters, Teresa Farah (Mike) and Michele Trevathan; his grandchildren, Charles (“Chip”) Dearman (Jodie), Erin Spohn (Patrick), Meredith O’Connor (Colin), Ben Smith (Colleen), Becca Parris (Drew), Keely Browning (Gareth), Connor Browning, and Kevin Browning; his step-grandchildren, Heather McCarthy (Kevin), Holly Larue (Steve), Michael Erskine, and Graham Trevathan; and many great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife of 38 years, Doris Mellin; his daughter, Elizabeth (“Susie”) Dearman; and his stepdaughter, Tina Erskine.

Funeral service scheduled 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 28, 2026 at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home & Cremation Services, where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Private interment will take place at Burr Oak Cemetery, Athens, MI.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Bill Bornor Athletic Assistance Fund at the Athens Community Foundation or to the Alzheimer’s Foundation in honor of his hard-fought battle with dementia.
