Battle Creek

William Vincent “Bill” “Billy” Rominger, 68, of Battle Creek, Michigan, passed away on July 3, 2026, leaving behind a family who adored him and countless lives made better simply because he was part of them.

Bill was born on January 24, 1958, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He lived a life marked by extraordinary talent, unwavering kindness, and selfless generosity. A gifted craftsman jeweler, artist, and designer, he traveled the world creating beautiful, one-of-a-kind masterpieces that became treasured family heirlooms and cherished keepsakes for people across the country. His artistry reflected not only his remarkable skill but also the care and passion he poured into everything he created. His hands could transform precious metals and stones into works of art, but his greatest gift was never what he made-it was who he was.

If you knew Bill, you knew his heart. It was impossible to measure the kindness he carried or the generosity he gave so freely. He never met a stranger. Whether someone needed a meal, a place to stay, a listening ear, or simply someone to believe in them, Bill was there. His home was a place of refuge, with a table that always seemed to have room for one more and a bedroom that was always open to anyone in need. Throughout his life, many found shelter, friendship, and hope under his roof. Many will fondly remember his famous sandwiches and the countless creative meals he joyfully prepared, believing that feeding people was one of the simplest and greatest ways to love them. He lived the words of Matthew 25:35: “For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me.” He didn’t just read those words-he lived them. He would gladly give the shirt off his back if it meant helping someone else.

Bill had a gentle, compassionate soul and loved people unconditionally. He rarely sat down, always finding something to clean, fix, or do for someone else before thinking of himself. He was the first to lend a helping hand and never expected anything in return. Neighbors knew him for his friendly waves and cheerful honks as he drove by, and everyone who spent time with him knew his playful sense of humor. Bill loved making people laugh and had a way of bringing joy into even the ordinary moments.

He found beauty everywhere-in the music he loved, in the quiet peace of nature, in the roar of a Formula 1 race, and in the wonder of aircraft soaring overhead. He had an appreciation for craftsmanship, adventure, and the little moments that many people overlook. He taught us to slow down, notice the beauty around us, and always make room for kindness.

Bill worked hard to provide well for his family and faithfully served his community. He invested in the youth through ministry in Battle Creek and was always willing to volunteer his time and talents for projects around the church and throughout the community. Whatever needed to be done, Bill was there with willing hands and a servant’s heart.

Above all else, Bill loved his family. He was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Angeline (Cannillo) Hixson, and many aunts and uncles.

He leaves behind the mother of his children, Kathy Rominger; his children, Tyler (Katelynn) Rominger, Jessie (Justin) Barnes, and Vincent (Alexa) Rominger, who will forever carry his love, his lessons, and his spirit with them. He was an incredibly proud grandfather to Maddox, Sophie, Ava, Ellie, Corey, Griffin, Anaya, and Rhodes, and although he didn’t get to meet the newest little boy expected to arrive in August, there is no doubt that his love will surround him just the same.

The world feels a little quieter without Bill in it. We will miss his stories, his laughter, his wisdom, his gentle spirit, and the way he always found time for anyone who needed him. The greatest tribute we can give him is to love people the way he did-with open hands, an open heart, and without expecting anything in return.

Above all, Bill loved the Lord. His faith was not something he simply spoke about-it was woven into the way he lived every day through humble service, generous hospitality, and genuine compassion for others. While our hearts ache in his absence, we rejoice in the assurance that his faith has become sight. We find peace in knowing he is now resting in the presence of his Savior.
