Mary Bailey

Mary Joyce Bailey, age 90, of Battle Creek, died Wednesday, January 12, 2022. She was born November 22, 1931, in Pikeville, Tennessee the daughter of Jack and Cora (Hancock) McCulley. Mary has lived in Battle Creek since moving here with her family at the age of 11. She played basketball in the city league, bowled in several leagues and was a wonderful cook. Everyone loved her cooking. For 15 years Mary worked at Michigan Carton and later worked as a nurse’s aide for 5 years. On December 27, 1953, she married Robert Thomas Bailey who preceded her in death on August 29, 2010. She was also preceded by her parents; a great-granddaughter Cleo Coss, two sisters: Nan Hancock and Bess Jordan-Boruszewski, and three brothers: Don Hancock, Sam McCulley and Bob McCulley. Mary is survived by four children: David Bailey of Battle Creek, Dianna Coss of Battle Creek, Nancy (Randy) Thurman of Pikeville, TN and John (Joanna) Bailey of Battle Creek; ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; one brother Jim (Winifred) McCulley of Battle Creek; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 15, 2022 at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home with Rev. Paul Parker of Cornerstone Community Church officiating. Interment will follow at Morgan Cemetery.
