Robert Carr

December 10, 1943 — June 7, 2020

Robert R. “Bob” Carr, age 76, of Battle Creek passed away on Sunday, June 7, 2020, surrounded by family. Bob was born on December 10, 1943, in Sturgis, MI, the son of William and Emma "June" (Jackson) Carr. He was a graduate of Colon High School class of 1962. In 1964, Bob was united in marriage to Ginger who survives, and has been a resident of the Battle Creek area since 1966.  Since 1966 Bob served Battle Creek and surrounding areas in Calhoun, Barry, Kalamazoo, Branch, Eaton, and St. Joseph counties in land surveying and became a Michigan licensed land surveyor in 1973. He owned and operated Carr & Associates Land Surveying from 1987 to present and was a partner in King & Carr Land Surveying from 1981 to 1987. He previously worked for DeKeyser & Associates from 1966 to 1981.  Bob was an active member and supporter of the Michigan Society of Professional Surveyors and its predecessor organizations and served in leadership roles in the MSPS Southwest Chapter.  After 54 years of thriving in his profession, his plan was to continue providing service to his customers and friends, with no real desire to completely retire. Bob was an avid reader of primarily non-fiction and always had more than one book going at a time so that he could switch back and forth as mood dictated.  Bob enjoyed the outdoors and many outdoor hobbies including fishing, hunting, and horseback riding.  He was a member of the Battle Creek Hunt since 1986 and served in the roles of Master and Huntsman for the organization for many years. Surviving are his brothers Roger Carr, Terry Carr and Mike Carr; his children Jackie Carr (Rocco Corsetti) of Reston VA, Ron (Carol) Carr of Kingsley MI and Karen York of Marshall MI; and his granddaughter Hannah Carr of Kingsley MI. Bob was preceded in death by his parents William and June Carr, his brothers Thomas Carr and David Carr, and his son-in-law Ben York. Professionally, Bob is survived by the dedicated staff at Carr & Associates Land Surveying who will continue the land surveying services to Battle Creek and beyond. A private visitation will be held at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home and Cremation Services. A graveside service will be held 10:00 am Friday, June 12, 2020, at Hicks Cemetery, Pennfield Township. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Northwestern Michigan College, Surveying Department, Northwestern Michigan College, 1701 E. Front Street, Traverse City, MI 49686, Attention: Robert R.
