Sandra Long

February 13, 1943 — May 23, 2021

Battle Creek

Passed away peacefully to be with our Lord, on May 23, 2021, at Borgess Hospital in Kalamazoo. Sandy was born February 13, 1943, in Kalamazoo, Michigan, to Ed and Anne Sykora.  Sandy worked for many years as a bank teller. She sold Avon for 18 years, and she worked for GPS Food Stamp Center, where she managed this site until she retired. She enjoyed arts and crafts, painting ceramics, camping, knitting, and crocheting. Sandy enjoyed collecting many things: dolls, coins, Elvis records and paintings. Sandy especially loved her dogs and her horse. She had a passion for animals and shared that with everyone. Sandy was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was married to John Long 9the love of her life) for many years. Sandy is survived by her three children, Kathy Allman - Long, Michael (Gail) Long and Bradley Long (Tara LaFountian); nine grandchildren, Alicia, Tony, Beth, Taylor, Kasandra, Trevor, Brandon, Bayle and Madison; eight great-grandchildren; and special friends, Dolores Doherty, Robert Smitherman and Jean White. The Long family will be hosting a Celebration of Life for Sandra K. Long on Sunday, June 13, 2021, at Long Island Smoothie & Café, 256 N. Helmer Road, from noon to 4 p.m. The family hopes that you can come and spend time exploring the many loves of her life and all of her many accomplishments. We will honor the memory with a special tribute and theme featuring Elvis Presley, as he was one of her all time favorites. Sandy was a gift to us all…come honor her at this special tribute for Sandra K. Long.
