Janet L. Oursler, age 75 of Battle Creek, passed away Saturday, September 17, 2022. She was born July 21, 1947, in Battle Creek, Michigan the daughter of Jody Palmer and Myrtle Belle (Whaley) Edwards. Janet was a 1965 graduate of Battle Creek Central High School and a 2001 graduate of Davenport University. She worked for Bristol, Leisenring & Company, CPAs from 1977 to 1986 and retired from the W.K. Kellogg Foundation in 2011. Janet was a former member of Pennfield Presbyterian Church. She loved her daily runs and walks, was a Master Gardener who enjoyed spending time in her yard and was a big fan of Elvis Presley. On October 25, 2003 at Central Christian Church, Janet married David Oursler who survives. She is also survived by her two children: Jason Boarts and Julie Buckley; three stepchildren: Steve Oursler, Mike Oursler and Cathy Hannafin; three grandchildren; her former husband Jack Boarts; two brothers: Donald Smith and Rex Smith, Jr; and many nieces and nephews. Janet was preceded in death by her parents Rex and Myrtle Smith, and three brothers: Bill, Randy and Regis Smith. Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 27th from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home. Private graveside services will be held at Fort Custer National Cemetery with Pastor Gordon Pippin officiating.
