Joshua J. Morris, although better known to those he held dear as Joshie, age 37 of Battle Creek, Michigan, passed away unexpectedly on January 16th, 2023 in Colorado. Born on May 11th, 1985 in Battle Creek, Michigan, to James and Molly (Cummins) Morris. Josh graduated from Climax-Scotts High school and called a few places home including Ventura, California, as well as Chicago, Illinois.

Josh had a beautiful and complicated mind. His brightness and smile was warm, and even more so his light. There were times that he would spend hours on the phone, just discussing his dreams and goals. The businesses he wanted to create, the life he wanted to live. The people he wanted to help bring along the way of his journey to success.

Josh was a dreamer, and an entrepreneur through and through. He saw opportunity everywhere he looked, much like his mom Molly. Josh had a hustler's spirit, and a philanthropist's heart. Josh was a co-owner of several businesses with his mom and brother including Morris House AFC, Timeless Furnishings, and Chalk Country Paints.

Josh’s heart was so full of life and joy. Those that knew him best can still hear his laugh. That enthusiastic, ironic, and bubbly giggle that would escape his mouth, when he was unguarded and comfortable, that always resulted in a contagious, massive goofy grin.

Josh also had a tremendous sense of adventure, never wanting to stay in one place for long, he loved to travel. Hours in the car, to end up at some random restaurant, or location, with his beloved dog and travel companion, “Duke”. One of his trips this past summer took him to the Cummins Falls State Park in Tennessee, a cherished place that was once owned generations by his Grandpa Cummins family.

Josh was preceded in death by his father James Morris, step-father Stuart Mendenhall, his beloved sister Hayley Morris-Pruitt, grandparents; Carl and Mary Alice Cummins, and Neil and Jane Morris. Surviving are his mother, Molly Mendenhall of Springfield, MI., brother Dustin Morris of Chicago, IL., aunts and uncles; Kathy (Ed) Williams, Joe (Emilie) Cummins, Gary (Shirley) Cummins, Cindy (Roy) Smith, all of Battle Creek, several cousins, extended family, as well as friends that Josh loved like family.

Josh’s passing will leave a massive gaps in many lives, please join the family for a memorial service scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 28th, 2023 at Central Christian Church, 713 Riverside Drive, Battle Creek, where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
