Mae Prater

Mae V. Prater, age 87, of Battle Creek, passed away on September 20, 2020 at Hastings Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center.  She was born on September 3, 1933 in Hyden, Kentucky, the daughter of Rufus and Martha (Fields) Feltner.  Mae came to Battle Creek in the 1950’s.  She was a homemaker and a member at Heath Street Church of Christ.  She enjoyed gardening, cooking, country music and her dog, “Toby”.  Mae was united in marriage in July of 1951 to Urban Prater, he preceded her in death in 1992.  She was also preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.  Surviving are sons; Gary (Bonnie) Prater of Battle Creek, Ronald (Lisa) Prater of Banfield, daughters; Sharon (Pete) Prater of Hastings, Lori (Tim) Caffrey of Battle Creek, sister; Georgia Ann McGee of Battle Creek, brother; Rutherford (Debbie) Feltner of Battle Creek, eleven grandchildren and several great grandchildren.  The family will receive friends from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm, on Thursday, September 24, 2020 at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home & Cremation Services.   Due to covid-19 state regulations, face masks are required, and social distancing will apply.   Private family services will take place with interment at Fort Custer National Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice.  Condolences may be left for the family at www.henryfuneralhome.org
