Mark Stephen Boaz was born August 16, 1959, to Barry Joseph Boaz and Shirley Joan (Stumpf) Boaz at Leila hospital in Battle Creek Michigan, and passed away December 6th, 2021 in the comfort of his own home. In his early years, Mark attended South Westnedge Elementary School, South Junior High School, and Loy Norrix High School, where he graduated with honors in 1975. Mark played many sports, including track, tennis, basketball, bowling, golf and was a running back on the varsity football team. His first job was working for the Kalamazoo Gazette, as a newspaper delivery boy. He also worked in high school at places such as the Hout Coopers market stand and Kentucky Fried Chicken. After graduation, he attended Kalamazoo Valley Community College, where he mastered classes in Auto Mechanics, Machine shop, and Machine repair. He obtained a job at General Motors in Kalamazoo and Three Rivers Michigan and worked there for 9 years until the plant closed. He was then hired by Protech, where he was trained in California and New Jersey to be a service tech, earning technical merit awards for outstanding service. He was later hired at W.S. Reed and continued to work in this industry for Xerox. In his free time, he enjoyed working on cars and computers, fixing motorcycles, and spending time with his loved ones. He is survived by many relatives, including his mother Shirley Joan (Stumpf) Boaz, two brothers Jon Leslie Boaz and Paul Arthur Boaz, sister-in-law, Brittney (Mulvey) Boaz, sister Linda Diann (Boaz) West, several nieces and nephews, including Kevin Allen Boaz, Joanna Lynn (Boaz) Lester and her husband William (Bill) Lester, Nicholette Paige West, Daniel Jacob Boaz, Kristina Elizabeth Boaz, Gavin Chistopher West, and Zachary Marcus Gim West, and five Great nieces and nephews, including Jordan Tyler Boaz, Breydan William Jon Boaz, Jon Paul Lester, Gabriel Michael Lester, and Anna Marie Lester. In memory of Mark, the family is asking for donations to the American Heart Association. Mark was a wonderful and caring son, uncle, and brother. He was always very selfless and did everything he could for others, even if they weren’t a direct family member. He was taken from us far too soon and will be forever missed. Graveside services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 16, 2021 in the chapel at Memorial Park Cemetery with The Reverend Brian Coleman of St. Thomas Episcopal Church officiating. www.henryfuneralhome.org
