Patricia Rathbun

Patricia “Pat” Ann Rathbun, age 91, passed away peacefully on July 5, 2022 at Bickford Cottage in Portage, MI. after a long illness.  She was born on May 6, 1931 in Battle Creek, MI., the daughter of William and Grace Irene(Thurtle) Kerr.  Pat graduated from St. Philip High School in 1948, and married Robert Rathbun in September of the same year.  They were married for 65 years until his death in 2013.  She worked for the Kellogg Company in her early years and then as a realtor in Battle Creek for over 20 years.  Pat loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.  Many happy times were spent at their home on Goguac Lake.  She was an excellent seamstress and crafter, making many gifts for her family.  After retirement, she enjoyed traveling with Bob.  Pat was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Robert Rathbun, sisters Donna Kerr and a grandson, Dan Simon.  Surviving are her daughters, Debbie (David) Buford, Linda (Larry) VanBlarcum, Robin ( Doug) Welton, Lisa (Gene) Simon,  a sister, Beverly (Thomas) Gapske, grandchildren, Aaron Buford, Nathan (Maria) Buford, Brian (Julie) VanBlarcum, Emily (Doug) Miller, Amy Simon, Zack Simon, Chad (Darcy Jo) Welton, David (Samantha) Welton, Darcy Ann (Brian) Cotant, 21 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.  In accordance to her wishes cremation has taken place with a private family service to be scheduled.  Memorial contributions may be made to Centrica Care Navigators.  Memories and condolences may be shared with the family at www.henryfuneralhome.org
