Anthony “Tony” Denton Eib, 63 of Battle Creek, passed away Saturday, June 12, 2021, at his home after a hard-fought battle with heart and lung disease. He was born in Battle Creek, Michigan the son of Donald James and Elizabeth Jane (Weigand) Eib. Tony was a 1976 graduate of Springfield High School and enjoyed playing sports. He was an avid basketball player and equally loved playing softball and bowling. He enlisted in the Army National Guard where he proudly served for 15 years. Beginning as a plumber, he quickly realized his desire for the culinary arts and began his career in the mess hall eventually graduating to mess sergeant where he learned that serving was the greatest of all things. Tony wore many hats throughout his career finding himself in a multitude of fulfilling employment opportunities. He worked at Brutsche concrete installing burial vaults were his son and nephew have fond memories of tagging along on workdays. He also worked with his close friend at Coleman Rent to Own as the “repo man”. Eventually finding his way back to his passion, he worked in the kitchen at Bedford Manor and later took a position in the kitchen at the Salvation Army where he proudly served until his retirement. Anthony is survived by his son, Matthew (Natalie) Eib; two grandsons: Jordan Hammons and Zachary (Desirae Heers) Eib; three sisters: Darlene (Ron) Correnti, Denise (Dave) Alday and Karen (Chuck) Dellinger; his favorite brother: Donald Eib and honorary brother-in-law: Donald (Paula) Tripp. Anthony also has many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews that he adored, along with many extended family that he loved dearly. He was especially excited for his first great-grandson to be born in September of this year. Tony was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents: Pauline and Denton Copeland and one sister Paula (Randall) Lehrke. A memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 19, 2021, at the Salvation Army Chapel, 400 Capital Avenue, N.E., Battle Creek, MI 49017 with a luncheon to follow.
