Maxine Metzger

Maxine Ann Metzger, age 96 of Battle Creek, passed away Thursday, January 28, 2021 at Stoneridge Assisted Living. She was born January 31, 1924 in Battle Creek, Michigan the daughter of Walter and Amy (Wright) Cotton. Maxine was a 1942 graduate of Lakeview High School and served in the Marine Corps during WWII. She retired from the Eaton Corporation where she had worked for 34 years as an inspector. Maxine loved to cook for her family and friends, entertain at the lake cottage and enjoyed flower gardening. On June 21, 1947 she was married to Donald G. Metzger. Don preceded her in death on December 18, 2019 after 72 years of marriage. Maxine is survived by her son, Steve (Terry) Metzger of Battle Creek; two grandsons: Steve (Melissa) Metzger and Paul Metzger both of Battle Creek; three great-grandchildren: Anna, Joel and Sarah; and her brother, Fred Cotton of New Jersey. Visitation will be held Sunday, February 7, 2021 at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m. with a memorial service to be held at 2:30 p.m. Private graveside services will be held at Fort Custer National Cemetery at a later date.
