Obituary

Robert Nahum Long, 84, passed away August 27, 2021, at his home in Battle Creek.  He was born February 26, 1937, in Flint, MI to Farwell and E. Gladys (Tallman) Long. He is survived by his sons Michael and Erik, his sister Bonnie and brother Art; his extended family of nieces, nephews, adopted grand kids and his beloved church family. His wife, Mary Joyce, preceded him in death on February 5, 2021. Bob proudly served in the US Air Force from 1955 – 1961 as a jet mechanic and retired from Ralston Purina after 32 yrs. He owned several rental properties, traveled worldwide, trained and showed Golden Retrievers, and could repair or build most anything. Driven by his entrepreneurial spirit from a young age and commitment to provide for his family, he was a hard-working strong man. Bob surrounded his property with beautiful landscape and loved driving a Cadillac. He will be remembered for his storytelling and love for his wife.  The Marquis Who’s Who featured him in their book a couple years back. Bob will be missed. A service to celebrate his life will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 11, 2021, at the Hickory Corners Bible Church, 13720 Kellogg School Road, Hickory Corners, MI with Pastor Rich Anspach officiating. A luncheon will be held at the church immediately following the service. Private interment with military honors was held at Memorial Park Cemetery.
